instar’s debut album was entirely recorded, engineered and mixed by Matthew, he even did all the artwork & photography. When the album was finished we sat back and said

“wouldn’t it be cool to get it mastered by the best”

So,we had a think and thought the man for the job is Andy Jackson. So who is Andy jackson, well Andy has been Pink Floyd’s engineer for 30 years. “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason” & “The Division Bell” were both nominated for “Best Engineered Album” Grammies. “The Division Bell” won “Best Recording Quality” at The British Hi-Fi Awards & Andy won the ‘Mix’ award for best live sound on the “Pulse” tour. Andy also recorded & mixed Dave Gilmours solo album ‘On An Island’

CD launch Party

Well, we waited 6 years for this night…..and it was worth the wait ! We held the launch of instar’s debut album in the same room we shot the front cover, in the music room at the historic Towneley Hall. Tickets for the night had sold out in advance for the first ever listen to the album followed by an unplugged acoustic set including songs from the album and a few oldies. Matthew made good use of the grand piano with renditions of ‘Surrounded’ & ‘Walk in the sun’, other highlights included the Mandolin driven ‘Breath of god’. Ritchie’s vocals were on top form for the first airing for a new song destined for instar’s second album called ‘Okeechobee’, which ended the night in style with a standing ovation. A big thank you from Matthew & Ritchie to all that came and we look forward to seeing you at our next gig.

The CD launch Night

On the 19th of November 2011 we finally launch our debut CD onto the world with a sell out show. The night kicked off with an AV show the bands history and the making of the album, followed by the first ever listen to the album in full. After a shirt break for a drink and nibbles Matthew & Ritchie came back on and just blew everyone away with an acoustic set of songs new & old. Matthew’s acoustic guitar work was breathtaking, not to mention his piano and mandolin work, Ritchie’s vocals were on top form too putting every ounce of emotion into every lyric. The last song of the night was a new song the boys had worked on with the acoustic guitar that left the crowd speechless and a standing ovation finished off the night beautifully. After the show Matthew & Ritchie signed autographs and CD’s for the audience. All in all an incredible night and the best part is, this is only the beginning. Instar are a new sounding band with a collection of songs guaranteed to have you hooked from first listen.

They have developed a unique sound from years of performing in various outfits with different styles, drawing on some aspects of each genre to create the amazing music on their debut album.

With influences ranging from Steve Vai to Dave Matthews, Yes to Jamie Cullum, they offer a unique perspective on the current music trends and have set powerful anthems along side emotive ballads.

Their self titled album features twelve beautifully written songs recorded and mixed at Mill Cottage Studio and Mastered by the great Andy Jackson.
